Campbell’s, General Mills, and Target help us offer additional
ways to help the Child City with little extra effort on your part!
Deputy Director of Philanthropy, Moose Charities
Target stores have an existing fund-raising program called Take Charge of Education. This program is intended to benefit K-12 schools located in the U.S., having a 501(c)(3) or 509(a)(1) tax-exempt status.
Moose members using a Target Visa or Target Card may sign up for the Take Charge of Education program by calling 1-800-316-6142 or by visiting Target.com and notifying Target that they would like Mooseheart Child City & School to benefit from their purchases.
Mooseheart is already designated as an eligible school in the program (school ID 6427). Each time members use a Target Visa or Target Card and have notified Target that they wish Mooseheart to benefit from their purchases, Target will donate an amount equal to one percent (1%) of member’s purchases at any Target store and Target.com, and one-half percent (0.5%) of member’s Target Visa purchases everywhere else they use their Target Visa.
Target will track purchases charged to participating accounts and will distribute the accumulated donations to Mooseheart in March and September.
So far, 114 members have taken advantage of this easy way to lend additional support to the Mooseheart School with donations totaling $2,768.88 as of September of 2006 with an additional $298.06 currently earmarked for the March, 2007 donation.
This is a great way for all dedicated members who have Target accounts to reward Mooseheart by doing what they’d normally do by shopping at Target.
For full details, visit www.target.com and scroll to the bottom of the home page and look for “Take Charge of Education” under “Community”.
For the past 10 years, General Mills has been promoting its Box Tops for Education program, helping America’s schools earn over $175 million. So far, Moose members have amassed enough box tops - at a value of 10¢ each - that Mooseheart Middle School has benefited to the tune of $3,245.00 and Mooseheart Elementary School gained funds in the amount of $5,359.00. Members are encouraged to continue to contribute to Mooseheart through this program by clipping box tops from hundreds of participating brands. Moose members can earn up to $20,000 per year from clipping box tops for Mooseheart.
The original box tops program has expanded beyond the familiar 10¢ box tops coupon on hundreds of products from General Mills. Now members can find coupons on Ziploc and Kleenex products as well. Qualifying products are subject to change. For a complete list of participating products visit www.boxtops4education.com.
Another program, Campbell family brands’ Labels for Education has been awarding free educational equipment to schools in exchange for proofs of purchase from Campbell brand items for more than 30 years. It’s an easy program whereby Moose members clip labels from eligible Campbell products and redeem them for points toward equipment for Mooseheart.
Through the efforts of Lodges and Chapters all over the country, Mooseheart has accumulated 173,709 points toward awards that may include televisions, sports equipment, computers, musical instruments and books. The initial hope was that our effort would reach 1.5 million points, redeemable for a minivan. Although that goal may seem a bit out of reach at the moment, members are encouraged to continue to clip Campbell product labels and send them in. More information is available at: www.labelsforeducation.com.
