The Traveling Vietnam Wall came to Garden Grove, Oct. 7 and the Garden Grove Lodge #620 volunteered to help visitors find their loved ones.
Thanks to Gov. Mike Kuhl, Jr. PG Keith Robinson, Prelate Leonard Chapman and SAA Chris Tiscareno who helped with those looking for names on the Wall. This was a community service project for our lodge and for us a very humbling experience.

the supreme sacrifice.

We are still accepting clothing for the people at H.O.P.E., they support the abused women and children of Garden Grove. If you have small toys, new or in good condition, it would make the children smile!
Thank you for all that you have done for a great cause.... "

Thank You
I have contacted our newest soldier stationed in Afghanistan but have not received a reply. When I do, I know our lodge will respond as we did for Sgt. Bikley. I have not heard from the Sergeant since his being wounded, but sent him a “get well” message from all of. Remember, we are still accepting clothing for “Hope”, who helps abused women and children. They can always use clothing and childrens’ toys, school supplies, etc. especially this time of year. Garden Grove Lodge was the recipient of the “International Gold Aware for Community Service, and it was because of all of you who have contributed time, travel, and donations that made it possible. I thank you and the lodge thanks you.
Hard work and donated plants have made our former “weed patch” a nice garden area. Many thanks to Brother Keith Robinson and his helper. Also, to those who donated time and some very nice and expensive plants, thank you,, you have made a big contribution to our lodge.

Looks like our Sgt. David Bickley is stateside, and sad to hear, he has been wounded! Maybe we can locate him, send him a "get well soon card". All the boxes we sent, contained school supplies and soccer balls for the children in Afghanistan, as the Taliban will not allow schools.

a large turnout, and were suprised and thankful for our help. Our lodge has
supported these girls for
some time, and it was for a great cause.

Tommy Moose:
A Very Successful Community Service Program Gets Even
Better!
By SHAWN BAILE, Director/Fraternal Programs

If you happen to see a cuddly plush moose in a red sweater in the coming months that looks like the Tommy Moose--just more cuddly and lovable looking--don’t be shocked.
Tommy has gotten quite a makeover! With his updated appearance, we hope he’ll be even more welcome in police cars, fire trucks and ambulances than ever.
In February 2007, the Supreme Council began to seriously consider redesigning Tommy Moose. The opportunity existed to take a very successful community service program to the next level; to continue the initial concept of providing a plush Moose in emergency vehicles while expanding Tommy’s recognition into additional areas to create a more identifiable image.
Doing so enables the Moose the chance to trademark the Tommy Moose character to restrict use of the likeness only to programs approved by the Order.
A new design created by Chris Ecker of Moose International Communications & Public Affairs was submitted to a vendor and a prototype was composed. The design was approved, and production of the “new and improved” Tommy Moose has begun!
While it was extremely important to continue the success that Tommy Moose has spread throughout the fraternity, it was equally important to assure that the new design was flexible enough to be utilized in other arenas. Fraternal units will continue to be encouraged to purchase plush Tommy Moose through Catalog Sales and present the items to emergency services personnel in their respective communities. Units that have made an initial presentation should stay in contact with these personnel and replenish their stock when necessary.
The newly designed Tommy Moose will be available beginning in January 2008 and will be used to fill all orders placed from this point forward. The price remains at $75/dozen; the catalog item number is 130. To order, call 630-966-2250; fax 630-859-3505; or e-mail order details to catalogsales@mooseintl.org.

The Garden Grove Moose Lodge #620, joined the local school and church, by planting trees on the street in front of our lodge. The lodge donated funds, and two young trees were planted, with help from the school children. The local TV and newspaper recorded the event, and everyone agreed that this was a joint non-profit effort that was adding some "leafy greens to the area". This was one of the big Community Service projects that our lodge does on an annual basis.

Email Correspondence Between Leonard Chapman & SSG David Bickley
Dear Leonard Chapman,
Thank you for your interest in the Adopt A US Soldier organization. Adoption can be as easy as writing letters or as involved as sending care packages. Your level of participation is entirely up to you.
Home State: Texas
Deployed From: Fort Campbell, TN
Gender: Male
Comments Here: Hello, I'm a soldier of the 101st Airborne Division currently deployed to the Zhari district of Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan. My platoon and I would greatly appreciate any hard candies(werthers/jolly ranchers, etc) and any school supplies such as pens/paper that you would care to send. We give these items out to the Afghan children while we are out on patrol. The only school that is left in this district is attacked almost daily by the Taliban which has driven all of the children to staying at home. They constantly ask us for pens and we give them all that we can, but there never seems to be enough. Afghanistan is a very poor country and the children here do not have many "niceties" at all. Also if you could send some soccer balls, it would be greatly appreciated. I am very grateful. Thank you for your kind support.

like to know
if you are still available to receive it?? Am in the process of
finding some
"soccer balls", and hope to get them to you ASAP.
Thanks for your sevice to our country...

I
know that many of you have been saving the pull tabs from your cans at home. Now is the time to turn them in!Monte and I are going to make a trip to Ronald McDonalds House this month. If you have any tabs at home for this drive, PLEASE bring them to the lodge now. We need as many as we can get to make this donation bigger and better than last year. Help us and the children at CHOCS by bringing in your tabs.
Those of you that don’t know about this project, let me explain. We save all our pull tabs from all cans, drinks, etc. and we take them to our local Ronald McDonald House. They use them to help the parents of children in CHOCs to be close in their time of need.
HELP US HELP THEM … save those pull tabs !!!!
Thank You, Monte Shuput
